US Highway 2 West near 1mile City limits

Troy, MontanaJun 11, 20043 Comments

City of Troy approximately 1 mile distance traveling West/East on US 2. Radar set up as you enter City traveling(West/East). Speed limit goes from 70mph to 45 mph then immediately there is a sign posting 25 mph as you immediately enter the City limits. Trap is set as you enter the City with no chance of slowing down.

Comments:
I have been through Troy hundreds of times and have only seen police two or three times. I have never seen them sitting and clocking people with radar. The signs are not really that close from 45 to 25 but it is easy to gently brake, not coast, to the 25 mph speed limit. That is coming from the West.

I live in Troy and this is not a speed trap. Also, the information listed is not correct. The speed limit DOES change from 70 to 45 and then to 35 before turning to 25 just after you cross the bridge into town. Anyone paying any attention would naturally be slowing down anyway.

There are also "speed zone ahead" signs before you ever get to the 45mph speed limit signs. I drive through here a lot, in both directions, and I have rarely had a problem with the police shooting radar. Only once were the police all over the place but they were actually looking for someone, not speeders. And I think twice in the year I drive through there I actually saw them shooting radar. I was braking and not quite to the speed limit yet. They saw this and just watched me to make sure I slowed to the speed limit. They didn't pull me over either. They are very reasonable. You would have to be completely not paying attention to the road signs to not see them. It is a bit of a brake from the W but I do it every week with no problems. Just pay attention.
