This is definately not a trap area. It is the only way to slow traffic down as it moves through the busier parts of Tawas city and East Tawas.
The speed limit actually drops gradually over approximately 1/2 mile. It changes from 45 to 35 at Bay Dr then it changes from 35 to 30 in the business district starting near Mitch's Pizza.
