US Highway 31 near US Highway 31
I make regular trips to South Carolina and so must regularly drive the dreaded US31 corridor from South Bend to Indianapolis. The speed limit the whole way is 55 even though the highway is straight most of the 150 miles. Watch for cars coming up behind you at high velocity and then slowing down 500 feet back. 9 times out of 10 it’s a cop coming up fast to pace you. There really aren’t any places for cops to hide but watch overpasses and little towns.

Actually, the speed limit along US 31 between South Bend and Indy is 60. Do watch small towns, expecially Lakeville, just south of South Bend. There are usually pedestrians, so minding the limit is a good idea anyway.
