This trap is heading westbound on U.S. Highway 321 approaching Pittman Center (approximately ten miles east of Gatlinburg). The speed limit drops from 55 mph to 45 mph. There is only one reduce speed sign followed by the 45 mph sign. Approximately one hundred feet past the speed limit sign you will go over a slight crest in the road. Be sure to be doing 45 mph when you reach the crest. Approximately one thousand feet from the crest, at the bottom of the hill will be the Pittman Center police vehicle. The officer will be parked in a gravel area on the northside of the road. He will be visible when you crest the hill but by then it is too late to slow down. The gravel appears to have been placed just for the patrol car. Pittman Center has approximately five hundred residents and not much crime. Therefore they have lots of time to do traffic enforcement.
