US Highway 421

Winston Salem, North CarolinaMay 21, 20051 Comments

(1)US Highway 421 is a 6-lane, divided, limited-access highway.

(2)The speed limit is 65mph approaching Winston-Salem.
A few miles from the city, it drops to 55 mph. Then,
with very little warning, it drops to a grossly-unreasonable
45mph…downgrade and around a right-hand curve.

(3)City of Winston-Salem police have a long history of
parking what looks like an abandoned car right past the
first 45mph speed limit sign. Then, motorcycle police
ticket drivers in hordes about 1/2 mile down the road.

(4)I became a victim of a slightly-different speed trap
on Thursday morning, May 19. In my case, a North Carolina
Highway Patrol unmarked sports car (probably seized in a
drug bust) sat just past the initial sign. He roared out
to pull me over, and ticketed me for driving 63mph in a
45mph zone.

(5)I am now required to drive over 100 miles each way back
to Court on June 14 to attempt to secure a little justice
in this matter.

(6)Winston-Salem is a "law-enforcement" city, and should
be avoided if at all possible. If necessary to drive through it, motorists are strongly encouraged to bypass
the City on Interstate 40, where the posted speed limit
remains 65mph and the sharks are not waiting to ruin your day.

Comments:
Same thing just now. I was surrounded by cars, bad day.
