US Highway 59

The police hide behind a business and then just pick a late model non-local car to stop and issue a ticket to.

Between his job and his family my husband has traveled this route a great deal over the last 35 years and reminds me every time we near this town (like he needs to) that it is a speed trap. So you can imagine my surprise to hear he received his first Diboll speeding ticket on his return home from a Saturday meeting that required him to travel on Hwy 59. He had two associates with him and had just informed the one that normally doesn't travel this route often of the towns notorious multi-decade speed trap. All three knew he was not speeding but at their age they knew better than argue with the police officer or try to fight the ticket because we would have to travel through their territory again. Lesson learned from "Three Billy Goats Gruff", if you don't have a bigger brother it is sometimes just wiser to pay the toll.

Talk to a local resident. On a return trip back out of town I forgot about this place and got a lead foot never realizing the police turned around on me. The traffic was thick and the officer literally couldn't move fast enough to catch me inside the city limits. I had already made a trip down a side street and upon entering a private drive to look for a mechanic friend to inspect my car I noticed the police on me. Puzzled at the two units that had to respond to this extreme case of criminal activity, one unit proceeded to escort me downtown. I did not get booked, but they did charge me with a speeding ticket and alluding. I'm not sure the police failing to stop me in an appropriate time frame constitutes the need for additional charges, I thought alluding involved intent to allude the police and not "I never knew they were on me". Curious to find answers to this mystery I have since done a little research and all I can say is the city council has become quiet accustomed to the additional revenue generate by having these officers on the highway. One might wonder about the drive by shots fired from a semi automatic weapon in the nearby areas and why an agency closer to the incident couldn't respond....need I answer that
