US Highway 70 near Unknown

Watertown, TennesseeMay 29, 20071 Comments

Daily police on this small town road sit constantly monitoring for speeders. It is well know throughout the surrounding county to do 5 miles under the speed limit, as if you are 1 mile over you could be pulled over. My grandmother informed me, and every time i drive through the town i make sure i go slow. I don’t think i have ever seen the road without a cop waiting for a speeder. I understand this small city only has this main road to watch, but it still is a horrible speed trap, even coming into the town there are speed limit fluctuation that are unrealistic, and must be for state troopers familiar with the area to have reason to pull drivers over. Please be careful driving through Watertown, TN on US70 between Lebanon, TN and Smithville, TN

Comments:
The speed limit in Watertown on Hwy 70 is 45 mph... the only drop in speed is 55 to 45 when you come into town from either side. Not too unreasonable. The speed limit inside town (main st, etc) is 20 mph unless otherwise posted. I can think of much worse places as far as speed traps go. As long as you can manage to drive 45 for about a mile and a half, you've got no worries.
