US Highway 72

Athens, AlabamaJan 03, 20052 Comments

Due to the number of automobile accidents occurring in Eastern Limestone County, the speed limit on Highway 72 has been lowered to **45mph WHEN RAINING**. Otherwise, the posted speed limit is 60mph. This speed limit is enforced from the Eastern Athens city limits to the Elk River Bridge (where Limestone County ends and Lauderdale County begins).

Comments:
I was stopped and ticketed by a State Trooper for speeding. I did not deny that I was speeding, but the speed limit dropping to 45 without warning was the cause. Also the Trooper that stopped me was extremely rude to me. His attitude was offensive. I wish I had his name,,, I would report him to the Main Office in Montgomery. I have a cousin that retired as an Alabama State Trooper, and when I told him of the way I was treated, he said the Trooper that stopped me should be reprimanded.

I probably know the name of the Trooper that ticketed you,I won't say a name, but YES...he's a miserable person. Also as an addendum to this speed trap , this should be describing WESTERN Limestone County from the City Limits of Athens to the Elk River.IT IS frequently patrolled by State Troopers!!!
