US Highway 77 near Moffatt Road

Lexington, OklahomaJun 16, 20060 Comments

The Lexington PD regularly has an officer parked on the east side of US 77 facing north after dark, just before it curves east to cross the bridge into Purcell (across the street from the salvage yard, just north of the park). The speed limit drops to 55mph then 45mph from the 65mph north of Lexington. (It drops further to 35mph about halfway around the curve.)

Lexington also often posts an officer at the east end of the bridge, where the speed drops from 45mph to 40mph then to 35mph, and at other points along the curve.

If you obey the speed limit, you should have no trouble with Lexington PD (or Cleveland County Sheriff’s deputies) on this stretch. I drive it daily, and have never been stopped by them, but I am judicious about obeying the limits.
