US Highway 79

Trezevant, TennesseeApr 01, 20012 Comments

This town for years had a reputation as a speed trap and that has begun again in earnest the past couple of years. Out-of-state vehicles are at greatest risk, although these officers ticket local traffic as well. The speed drops dramatically in three stages going in either direction on Highway 79 and you will be ticketed for going less than 5 mph over the limit.

Whoever the idiot is that wrote this obviously doesnt know what he is talking about. I know for a fact you have to be runnung at least 15 mph over the posted limit before you are even stopped and as for the out of state comment there again idiot comment, the speed does drop as in any small town drive the speed limit have no problems!

My son went to tour a local college. We were warned about Trezevant. Sure enough, my son was traveling 45 in the posted limit and still got a ticket. When he questioned the officer he got smart with him. I guess he thought he could be that way to a young person. It left a bad taste in our mouths for that town. We are going to try to find a way to bypass that area. The speed drops from 45 to 40 then 30 within a few feet. Watch out. With budget cuts they are wanting money!! The person who wrote the first comment is definitely not an idiot. He was telling the truth in 2001 and it is the same in 2013.
