US Highway 82 East near City limits signs

Oakridge, TexasApr 13, 20062 Comments

This is a small (less than 200 population) town attempting to supplement revenue with speeding tickets. Speed limits out side this small berg which has no presence on US-82 are seventy miles per hour.

The degree of enforcement is outrageous, tickets are being issued for speeds a low as two or three miles over 55. Fine for first mile over is $75.00 with $20.00 for each additional mile during dayligt hours. The fines are double at night.

Comments:
Three Officers no waiting, its the speed trap from hell, The speed limit drops , you are warned and you better watch out , you better not cry , The black cruisers are going to fine you into the next century . So Slow down for this place. Two state rest areas across from each other , they work both sides.

Yeah... three officers that have nothing else to do but wait on unsuspecting folk driving through "Oakridge" on Hwy82. Nevermind the rampant meth labs in this "blink and you miss it town" These Barney Fife wannabes frequently pull over people well into the city limits of Gainesville in order to keep their town coffers awash in money. Your best bet when driving through this so called "town" is to set your cruise on 52 mph. If everyone did this the place would go bankrupt in short of six weeks!
