Let me start by saying that I'm a resident of Washburn, ND and fully understand the decreased speed limit through our fine city. There have been unfortunate fatalities resulting from speeding motorists on US Highway 83 going through Washburn. However, the speed limit signs are clearly posted and in clear view of every motorist. If you are a responsible driver, you will be watching for reduced speed limit signs and abide by them. I would not come to your town and deliberately exceed the speed limit thinking there are no law enforcement officers around. If I did and I got caught speeding, I would take my punishment and NOT blame the city or law enforcement officials in that city. Driving is a privilege not a right. When you accept a drivers license, you in a sense say you will abide by the states laws. Be responsible. Slow down and save a life. It could be yours.
