US Highway 85w near State Highway 85w

Warm Springs, GeorgiaMar 28, 20063 Comments

On highway 85w just south of the "Little White House" entrance is a hill that goes up about a mile long. It’s at this straight away that the local police run radar and make "speeding cases." The last part of the hill is within the state requirements for running radar, but the fact that the mayor and council make a point to their police dept. to write tickets for revenue that gets me, being formally employed there. I was hired there to enforce the laws and make that town a better place to live not make the city any profit.

Yes this place is a bad speed trap. The speed changes so fast that you have to stand on the brakes to slow down. Also leaving town going to Manchester going down the first hill there is a speed trap. Beware of the stop signs as well. I wouldn't bother even going there unless you must.

Speed was taken at the Best Western where the zone is 55 mph but the ticket states it was taken at city hall where the speed has just changed to 35 mph. The stop sign by the bank where one turns to go to the Bullock House is routinely used to charge motorists for not coming to a "complete stop" as defined on the spur of the moment by the policeman even when he agrees that the motorist stopped. Warm Springs is a traffic ticket trap and blatantly dishonest. A place to be avoided. Nothing there worth seeing which is worth the motorist harrassment and cost in fines and insurance increases. Contesting the ticket is a farce.
