US Highway 95 near Walker Lake

Walker Lake, NevadaDec 17, 20072 Comments

All of US 95 that runs adjacent to beautiful Walker Lake, NV. From Hawthorne, north, to the community of Walker Lake, the speed limit is 65 until you get to the reduced zones approaching the community, then it drops to 45 MPH for approximately 1 1/2 miles, then it increases to 55 MPH once we depart the community going north to the end of the Lake, then it increases again to 65+ MPH to the Schurz community. Beware, they do patrol this area constantly! The posted speed is identical going the reversed route described above.

Comments:
Going south from Schurz there is a small convenicence store. Just past the convenience store going south just before the lake is visible the speed apparantly drops from 70 to 55 (Although I never saw the sign). Before you can slow down the officer is right there.

This stretch of highway is only two lanes. The bulls get bored out there, too. So, naturally, they want something to do and they'll get you. However, there's another good reason they'll cite you for speeding and that's because there have been some pretty fatal accidents along that stretch of highway. Drive smart. Drive the limit.
