US Highway Alt 89 near State Highway 67

About 3-5 miles past the junction with AZ 67 heading eastbound, speed limit abruptly drops from 55 to 45 as you are going down a hill. Arizona DPS sits on the side of the road MAYBE 500 feet from the 45 sign. I was coasting downhill with the overdrive off just to stay close to the 55 limit; luckily, I saw the cop just in time and was able to slam on the brakes to get down to about 50 by the time I got to the sign. You’d have to ride your brakes to get down to 45 for sure. Didn’t get pulled over, and the 45 limit is somewhat justified due to the winding road ahead, but this is a BS tactic if there ever was one, hanging out 500 feet in front of a sign on a downhill grade.

Comments:
This is an impossible speed trap....Officer said I was going 90 miles an hour...right. Before I knew it I was in court with his buddy judge. There was no way I was going 90 miles an hour down the back side of the Grand Canyon. I was speeding not doubt but 90 in 45..get real.
