US Route 9, North and South

The Croton-On-Hudson, NY PD, and NY State Police Troopers patrol US Rte 9 in this area quite frequently during the day, and sometimes during rush hours. This is between the Municipal Place Road (to Rte 129) on the south end and the Rte 9a exit to Montrose,NY (Albany Post Rd), which is just north of the Croton town line. The NY State PD has it’s new Troop Headquarters just a couple of miles north on Rte 9a, so they frequent this area regularly. The NY State PD also patrols US Rte 9 further north in the Welcher Avenue area just below Peekskill NY. The NY State PD often waits at a break in the median divider just before the aforementioned Rte 9a exit for Montrose,NY. They also wait behind a piller
of a crosswalk that goes over US Rte 9, as one heads southbound. The NYS PD also looks out from an overpass that connects US Rte 9 with Rte 9a at the Senesqua Road exit, just north of the NYS PD location to the south. The Croton, NY PD often looks down the northbound ramp into US Rte 9, from Rte 9a on Senesqua Road. The posted speed limit is 55, but the road is a modern stretch of Expressway, and most vehicles go over the posted speed at 65-70, and even higher. I mostly use this route during the day, when I often see these speed traps in operation and I stay near the speed limit from seeing all the enforcement along this stretch of highway
