Venice Blvd, where it ends at the beach itself, half block west of Pacific Ave

This is not a speed trap, since all traffic is slow. Rather, it is more like a roach motel: easy to go in, hard to get out (without a citation). Venice Blvd dead ends at the beach, where there is a NO U-TURN sign. (!) This is fair enough, actually, since there is a one-way alley to the left which leads out. But officers on the alley stop most vehicles with or without pretext and probe and poke for anything that will land you in court or worse. Many motorists get the U-TURN ticket, since turning around appears to be the easist thing to do. Don’t do it. I have observed as many as a dozen uniformed LAPD officers and Parking Enforcement officers on this short half-block stretch at a time. You could get a ticket if you so much as stop to let off a passenger, even though the traffic is only going 5 mph anyway and dropping off passengers is the only real reason to drive to the end of the street. Don’t get mouthy or you could end up in the hospital. Smile, say hello, act dumb, say you are a tourist looking for inexpensive parking and/or you are lost. Good News: you don’t have to worry about your car getting jacked, if you are one of the few souls lucky enough to find an available parking meter right here.
