VT Route 12 by Silver Lake, center of town

Barnard, VermontMar 10, 20031 Comments

Windsor County Sheriff Deputy parks at bottom of hill waiting for northbound traffic on Vt. Route 12 to enter the 30 mph zone from a 50 mph zone. Sheriff loves to make a show of pulling over anyone, sometimes in an unsafe manner, i.e., blocking traveled roadways, etc. It’s a new revenue stream for the town.

Comments:
There's an obscure small stop sign at the intersection across for Barnard Store...... across from the Sign there's a Life-like Manikin attached to the bridge ....... a huge distraction and an impossible confluence of roads.... to negotiate the merge -- you stop where there's no intersection and then drive another 75 feet to merge......... so I was clocked at 8-mph at the sign and then 22-mph thru the intersection......... $214 reminder of the rolling stop. Very nice officer and he knows it is a place for a deliberate ambush......... summers there's a lot of people nearby so it makes sense to have an officer there....... but....... the sign is nearly invisible....... no stop ahead sign warning and no markings on the road indicating a stop is coming........ an unfair revenue raising ambush....... and my first ever driving blemish.......
