Going west on W 19th, near the stop sign at S Olympia, is a 20 mph ‘when children are present’ sign. Coming up a hill approaching Olympia, you don’t see the KPD squad car in the First Christian Church parking lot, but if you didn’t slow from 30 to 20 just because there might theoretically be a child in sight, you’ll get nailed if the officer sees any free-range children about. The officer can see down the side streets, but you can’t until it’s too late.
