W. McDermott Dr. between Watters Rd. and S. Alma Dr.

Leaving Lowes last Saturday I turned from Benton onto McDermott and steadily accelerated to the Posted 45mph that I saw up top the hill. I even saw the cop, but low and behold she popped her lights on and……what do you know, I have a speeding ticket. I asked her what my speed was ( I already knew but thought she’d realize it’s only slightly above the limit) and she said 51. So I was 6 mph over, could you cut me a break. No, it’s 40mph which is posted Down the hill. I clearly saw the 45mph sign and wondered what the law is. Can you go that speed when you see the sign or right when you pass the sign? I feel railroaded.

Comments:
Last night there were four patrol cars working the area with a motorcycle officer running radar. Very creative and effective.

I got a ticket during the end of march at the same spot... I am trying to dispute the ticket, b/c the motorcycle cop said that i was going 51, however i had just pulled out of the peiwei parking lot prior to bendon drive and i know that i was not going 51 already. any tips on disputing??

the posted speed limit is too low and the city knows it. having gotten a ticket in this area, you're doomed traveling either way, e/w unless you are very careful. if you are going the posted speed limit you will exceed it, even if coasting. heading east on mcdermott, east of alma the posted is 45, huge dip and before you reach the bottom of the hill the posted speed drops to 40. heading west from 75, even if you maintain the posted 40 and are coasting, by the time you get to the bottom of the hill you well over the posted limit.
