W. Spring Creek, Windhaven to Dallas N. Tollway (DNT) to Hwy

W. Spring Creek is a divided six-lane thru this area posted at 45 mph, although 55+ is comfortable. Trees planted in the median, sometimes compounded by gentle curves and hills, makes it easy for speed traps to be set-up in the median turn-lanes to catch folks going either direction. The trees often block your view of the turn lanes until they “gotcha”. Nighttime is especially hazardous, especially since most Plano police cars and SUVs are black.

I’ve also seen them setup in the mornings in the driveway of a golf driving range in this area (from DNT to Windhaven) , to catch westbound rush-hour traffic, as well as on a side-street (probably Pinehurst).

All this is great for city revenue, but serves no purpose otherwise.

Comments:
This is a notorious place to get pulled over, however, the police is fairly lenient here. In most cases, if you keep it at 50 mph, they won't even give you a second look. If I go 50 mph on this road, I still have people riding my a$$ pulling by doing close to 60. While this is a large divided city street, it is not an interstate. In short, yes, be warned, but if you get a ticket here, you probably deserved it. :) There is a police station right down the road behind that driving range, which is why this is a popular monitoring place for the police.
