W Van Giesen St & N 69th Ave

Leaving West Richland, going west on Van Giesen – make sure you stay well below the 55 mph sign. From 69th to past Ruppert Rd. it is still only 35 mph.

Comments:
I live on the curve just past this location, and if you are heading out of West Richland towards Benton City, your first impression is that "I am no longer in the city now, so I can speed up." However, you are atill in the city of West Richland. The speed limit here is 35 mph and does not go to 55 mph until you pass the Rupprt Rd turnoff. Even then you will still be in the West Richland city limits for another half to three-quarters of a mile, until just before the old racecar track. So, be very cautious in this stretch of road.

With regards to the last comment - at some point in time, the city of West Richland may change the speed limit on the section of road past the Ruppert Road turnoff from55 mph to 35 mph without too much public notice or fanfare. Since this stretch of road is still within the city limits for another half to three-quarters of a mile, there could be a lot of people suddenly getting tickets in this area that are either used to the 55 mph and had not heard about the speed limit change, or are new people passing through the area, thinking themselves to be in the country, and traveling in excess of the speed limit. This situation bears some close monitoring and I will definitely notify this site if the speed limit in that area changes.
