Walton Way Ext. Street near Interstate I-20

Augusta, GeorgiaSep 30, 20081 Comments

A Richmond County Sheriff will sit to the right just off of Walton Way Ext. between the I-20 overpass and Davis Rd. and nail folks speeding across the overpass. It is posted 35 mph, but the road is 4 lanes wide, and folks typically cross doing 15-20 mph over.

Comments:
This road is at least 2 lanes in each direction with a median and much less hazardous to drive than Washington Rd, Gordon Highway, Deans Bridge Rd or Wrightsboro Rd. However, this speed limit is 35 mph here and yet it's 45 mph on all those other roads. Also, you never see the police car checking for uphill speeders, only the downhill speeders. It's obvious that anyone that hits the traffic light when it's yellow will speed up if questionable (as I did) and that's how I was clocked at 50 mph. It was my first time on that road since construction was completed and I thought the speed limit had to be 45 mph based on the rest of Augusta. I've seen them there plenty since that night too.
