I was traveling on 300 towards I-75 and came through Warwick, GA. I saw the sign where the speed limit went down to 55 and slowed down to about 58-59 and was being passed by another car so I may have missed the other sign. As I crested over the hill right after a car passed me, there were at least 3 squad cars on the road, 2 of them had people pulled over and I didn’t think much of it because I thought I was only going 3 or 4 over and I had just been passed by another car. I was riding in the “passing lane” and the car passed ME on the right. The officer, Stopped my car and wrote me a speeding ticket for going 63 in a 45 after I told him I honestly missed the sign and I didn’t think I was going that fast.

On the way to my day of court where I had every intention of fighting this ticket because I didn’t feel I was no more than 5% guilty of speeding, I checked the signs coming into town. There is a 55 speed limit ahead sign, 55 MPH sign, 45 speed limit ahead sign and a 45 MPH sign all within MAYBE 200 yards of each other and then goes into a hill that goes into the town area.

Here is what I witness on my day of court. THE ONE RING CIRCUS THAT PERSUED..

On July 14, 2015, I had the “honor” of sitting in your municipal court room to try to defend my speeding ticket.
I arrived there 30 minutes prior to the time shown to be there on my ticket. I sat in that room and watched UNPROFESSIONALISM in this court; from the magistrate smoking on an E-Cig while court was in session, the judge being 15 minutes late, police walking around with their mirrored sunglasses on their head. I have never been in a court room with less control than that. I sat there and tried to listen as people were talking to the judge and others were carrying on and for the most part ignored the very few times an officer may have asked people to quiet down.
I sat there and listened to “Judge” ______ give a dismissal to a young lady who was going 30 MPH over the speed limit after he made fun of her writing and quizzed her on driving and she missed a bunch of questions.
I sat there and listened to “Judge” Gregory give a dismissal to a young man who was going 27 MPH over the speed limit because he took a class and he brought his parents with him.
I sat there and listened to “Judge” ______ give a fine to a woman and then as community service told her to come back every 2nd Tuesday of the month for the next 6 months to give people the “Stink Eye” when people ask dumb questions as part of her community service.
I sat there and listened to “Judge” ______ give his little sermon about what the bible says when a young man told him he donated his fine to his church because the spirits told him to. I KNOW he is not allowed to mention his religion or what he believes when it comes to his judgments.
I sat there and listened to him speak to the crowd on so many other cases when it was really nobody else’s business.
AS I come up there with a LEGITIMATE, honest description of what happened that day and that I honestly didn’t see a speed limit sign and that I believe I was mis-targeted by the officer because another vehicle was PASSING ME when I was stopped, “Judge” _____ made sure that I paid my $220.00. The first time I came up he told me, if I knew the person who sang some song about Bangkok he would dismiss it, and of course I didn’t. I entered not guilty and he had me sit down to get back to me. UNPROFESSIONAL.
Your prosecutor wanted to try to scare me with his officer’s record on the force into the plea deal. NO DEAL. I didn’t bring my military record to court with me to put up against your officer. I just think “Judge” ______ wanted to make his good ol’ boy officer look bad in front of his Junior Officers.

From one marine to another, you need to remember honor and integrity. At least be honest when you vent about a situation.

Yes Warwick is a speed trap!!! I would suggest that you go well below the speed limet when you go through Warwick Ga. I also suggest that everyone do not stop and spend any money in Warwick Ga. or Worth County Ga.

Also if you do some research you will find that going 63 in a 45 is the most common ticket written in Warwick Ga. Yes that was my ticket. The state of Ga should do something about this.

This is all so funny. First of all to the comment of most tickets being 63 in 45...that is almost twenty miles over the posted speed limit. The signs coming in to warwick from both sides are stated on large signs. They are set by the GA DOT. not the city of Warwick. If you are a licensed driver and you are behind the wheel of a vehicle then you should be responsible enough to pay attention on the road when you are driving. The officers are not there to be your friends or listen to your rants about you being stopped. They are doing their job. Stop complaining and take responsibility. To the original post, your sir are very wrong about that court. I know from experience that the court may be laid back but no one there is unprofessional. You are upset that you had to pay your ticket.

You must be one of the officers running this speed trap in Warwick Ga. When you stop someone and tell them they were going 63 in a 45 ( most popular ticket written)but the driver said they were not going that fast who going to believe the driver. The higher the speeding ticket the more money the city of Warwick Ga. gets. The city of Warick police dept. is a money making machine. Go on line and see how much money they make writing speeding tickets .If you go to court you know the judge will side with the officer so you might as well pay the fine. I will say the officer that wrote my ticket could not have been more nice, he was so nice I almost asked him to write me two tickets.

WOW, well, Im another one who recently got one doing 63 in 45! WTH? Where can I go online to find out how much money they're making off of us? This is B.S. for sure- How convenient that so many drivers receive citations for the exact same speed?? This is RIDICULOUS.

Contact the governors office of Ga. and file a complaint . Hopefully they will do a investigation in the Warwick police dept and the city of Warwick . The state can disband this police force and there unlawful way of collecting money for the city of Warwick Ga.

Guess what!?!? Driving home from Florida today (after being rear ended in my new truck on the way down from Georgia in downtown Tallahassee) I got a 63 in a 45 ticket in Warwick. I had specifically been going the speed limit on this trip as I was trying to see the max MPG's I could achieve in my truck while on the highway. We drove through a national forest, where I was getting passed by guys pulling fishing boats, and rode through small towns sticking to the speed limit with people riding my wrecked bumper. After riding on the Georgia/Florida parkway which is a 65 mph divided four lane highway, I was staying with the flow of traffic, paying attention to the drivers around me, I came into the "town" of Warwick. The first thing I noticed other than the cars around me was a cop car on the side of the road. He pulled me over and wrote me a ticket. I am sure I wasn't going that fast, as the group of cars I was with had all been slowing down, but I didn't argue with the "professional" officer with a poorly applied unprofessional tattoo on his fore arm. Why would a town enforce speeding laws and issue tickets for violations? To keep their town a safe place. I understand this concept completely. During my short time in Warwick I noticed one thing, the unsafe conditions the police cause in this area. After I was stopped, I saw Large suv (Chevy Tahoe) police cruiser going no less than 70MPH through the middle of "town", I mean he was hauling @$$!!!! For what, to catch someone for going 55 in a 54 or whatever. My younger self, that liked to push the limits of the law and my vehicles, received quite a few tickets that I without a doubt deserved. Now that I have all that out of my system, two decades ago, I am furious this happened. Why is 63 in a 45 so common here? Something is not right. The speed reduction signs aren't obvious enough, too close to "town" and each other, I don't know. But I do know the only hazard I saw in that "town" was the police.

I have the same question as to why is 63 in a 45 so common in this area. I just got a ticket for the same exact speed violation today.
