Watch when you get off the Ferry!

Lewes, DelawareNov 04, 20102 Comments

When you get off the Cape May Lewes ferry, making a right out of the terminal, you get on a road that is 35 mph and is highly patroled. There are cops stationed up and down this road. The speed limit changes from 45 to 35 and back and forth, so you can lose track. This is where they wait. Then when you turn on to rt 9 heading through the town of Lewes 9 (heading toward rt 1) there are speed traps here as well, the speed limit is 35, do 35. At one point it even drops to 25. It’s easy to get pulled over here

Comments:
The speed limit does not go from 45 to 35, and back again. It stays at a consistent 35 , and actually eventually drops to 25. So if youve gotten a ticket on this road thats probably why.

This is correct, it is a high traffic Area around a small Tourist town and State Park where there are many people walking and Bike riding, including children. As stated before it is a 35 mph to 25 mph roadway as it gets closer to the small town of Lewes, which is a walker and bike friendly family town. Access to the Ferry to New Jersey is between the Park and the the town of Lewes. Delaware is a state that is fair with their laws but is safety conscious around walkers and bikers. Travelers coming from other States must obey the laws just as the people of Delaware. If the sign says 25 or 35 MPH, that's what it means. Are there cops there YES! For the safety of the people on foot as well as the bikers. It's a simple fact that Parks and small towns are serious about the safety of their people and visitors. It is a speed trap if you can't read the signs and slow down. If you are not an aggressive driver you will have no problems.
