Wentworth Road by Gypsum Plant

Windsor, Nova ScotiaApr 12, 20102 Comments

Cops seem to set up shop here once a week. At the very bottom of the Wentworth Road Hill right beside the entrance to the Gypsum plant. One car or an officer will park by the Plant and pick off cars coming down the steep hill. Sometimes they stand and hide behind a tree. Then you get pulled over at the intersection and it’s no mercy. Speed limit is 60 K on the hill and it’s easy picking.

Comments:
It should be a speed trap. People fly down this hill at breakneck speeds. There are children who live on this hill,, and at the top is a blind crest. When you fly down past the gypsum plant there are times cars have been air born. Top speeds have caused the death of two young boys (who were speeding, chasing a couple girls in another car) and an innocent couple going in town to run errands about 2.5 years ago. Over the years there have been numerous accidents on this short stretch and I hope the RCMP continue to monitor this area and hand out tickets like there is no tomorrow. There is no comparison to paying a fine or paying with someone's life! I've never seen any cops hiding behind trees though. That's a new one to me.

I absolutely agree that the road to the gypsum plant in Windsor needs a speed trap. There have been horrific crashes on those curves and hills over the past few years with several fatalities. Everyone in the area knows that very well. But many dangerous drivers still don't get it. Thank you RCMP for trying to make that road safer.
