West 8 Mile Road near Interstate 75

Hazel Park, MichiganNov 08, 20072 Comments

On West bound 8 mile road, the city police monitor both the main I-75 overpass and the service drive areas of 8 mile road. They look for drivers going over the 40 MPH posted limit, usually ticketing anyone driving 10 MPH or more over the limit.

Comments:
I was nailed here on the last weekday of the month, and the officer "did me a favor" of "reducing" the ticket to "obstructing traffic" which has $150+ (larger) fine.

By giving you the "Obstructing Traffic"Ticket the City of Hazel Park gets to keep all of the money for themselves and do not have to share it with the State of Michigan. If they were to write you a speeding ticket,it gets divided. Some goes to the City that wrote it.Some goes to the State. Some is sent to various funds like one for a State Trooper academy. That is why they wrote you the obstructing traffic ticket. You don't get any points,it just costs more money, which they get to keep.
