West College Drive near Rossman Elementary

Police car will sit in the parking lot of Rossman Elementary watching for cars that have not slowed from the 50 MPH to the 30 MPH speed limit by Orchard Valley.

Comments:
There is a Very good reason for this speed limit on this road. There are many residences along this stretch of road and vehicle traffic seems to be impatient to get to either highway from S. Greeley Hiway to I-25. Pedestrians and bicyclists take their life in their hands just walking along that road let alone crossing it. Years ago a child on a bike was hit and killed. The speed limit was reduced from 40 MPH to 30 MPH at that time and it remained because of all the heavy foot traffic. And while I'm on the subject, the speed limit in Orchard Valley is 20 MPH - All Through the area. I truly wish the sheriff and other law enforcement would patrol especially the paved streets but the gravel ones as well. There is No place to walk except along the edge of the road and God help anyone who steps inadvertantly into the right-of-way, or falls off a bike, or chases a runaway dog. Some "speed traps" are life-savers.
