West Elm Ext Street near Pearl Street
Brockton Police cruiser parked on Swift Rd while officer is shooting hand-held radar from edge of woods on West Elm Ext. Speed limit is posted 30mph. I went by doing about 38mph before I saw him but he didn’t flinch when I passed. He immediately turned around and starting shooting radar at opposite traffic. It’s normally a quiet road with very little traffic and not thickly settled so I can’t understand the 30mph limit.

This definitely is NOT a speed trap. I live nearby and often walk on West Elm Street Extension near the corner of Swift Road. The 30mph limit is there for a good reason. The street is narrow and has no sidewalks, even though there are neighborhoods with families living nearby. I regret that the person who reported it as a speed trap was not ticketed and hope that he/she will be, if it happens again.
