Westbound royal ln at Camella Rd (between Hillcrest and Preston)

Motorcycle cops love to hide on Camella north of Royal clocking traffic speeding west down Royal. Irregular enforcement, but when there’s a cop there, he’s there all afternoon into the evening. I was walking by once many years ago and talked to the cop running the trap; it’s usually 15 over but occasionally some jerk cop will stop for 10 over, which is quite easy to do in the close to mile-long straight-away. If there’s nobody in front of you, do yourself a favor and slow down when you hit the first light west of Hillcrest (cross street is Edgemere – there’s a school on the right just before the light). If you have a detector and know you got hit in time to stop for the next sidestreet (Tibbs) after that light, you can turn left or right and take sidestreets to Preston to avoid the cop. Usually the cop will only target cars once they can no longer turn off on Tibbs. Cop always flags down by hand, no chases. Chasing into the Preston/Royal intersection would be a nightmare; if you have no front license plate and can avoid the cop who will be standing in the middle of the road, running for it is an option, though of course not legal and not recommended.
