Woods Chapel Road near Liggett Road

Blue Springs, MissouriDec 11, 20071 Comments

If you are cutting through Lake Jacomo in the morning trying to get to 291 from 40 hwy: As you’re heading South on Woods Chapel (water on both sides of the road)… and you pass the Liggett Road light, the two lanes will merge into one. Many drivers (motor cycles especially) have a tendancy to want to race on green and/or pass on the right side. Normally, this results in both parties speeding up to see who will win – Bam! The Sheriff is waiting right past the curve where the lanes finally merge into one.

Comments:
As of early 2010, Woods Chapel Road has been widened to two lanes each direction all the way from US 40 to I-470/M-291, so the above merge problem no longer happens. Jackson County and occasionally Lee's Summit do still patrol this stretch of Woods Chapel, though. Jackson County can write tickets anywhere along here, but Lee's Summit can only go out to their city limits, which is currently (spring 2013) at Woods Chapel and Park Road - Park Road has stone "gates" on either side of it, on the south side of Woods Chapel. The Lee's Summit portion of Woods Chapel has street lights but the Jackson County portion currently does not.
