Wyoming Avenue

People fly up and down Litchfield street and turn left onto Wyoming avenue and continue going the same speed ~40 mph in a 25 zone. There is a cop that hides about 0.2 miles into the road (Wyoming Ave) right before Torrington Health and Rehab with a Laser gun. He hides outside of his car behind some bushes. It’s impossible to see him. Then he runs out and flags you down.

How in the world is anyone distinguishing between a "speed trap" -- which I take to mean any single, ongoing, longtime, relatively frequent positioning of an officer with a speed-measuring device -- and a cop sittiung wherever, whenever, shooting speeds? In other words, the term "speed trap" is thrown around much too loosely. By the sound of what I'm reading here, every single place a cop has ever busted someone for speeding in Torrington is a "speed trap." Which is not the case; just because a cop occasionally decides to shoot some "dar" while eating a donut in the Cumberland Farms does not make it a speed trap. If, however, you see a statey or a local sitting in that Cumby lot two or three times a month shooting radar or laser, THAT'S a speed trap. Driving 60 mph up East Main on your way to Walmart and getting pulled over by a passing or sitting policeman does NOT mean you were busted by a "speed trap." For the record, I've lived in Torrington since 1989 and the ONLY Torrington speed trap that's actually a speed trap is the Route 8 location that is about 2 miles south of Exit 46 (cop/DOT U-turn location), manned about four times a month by a Conn. State Police officer.
