Yaupon Drive and Oyster Creek Drive

Lake Jackson, TexasApr 15, 20082 Comments

There is a school zone on both Oyster Creek and Yaupon, the officer sits in the driveway on the N. W. corner and is very hard to see. He is there almost everyday when my wife picks the kids up from school. Normally has someone pulled over.

Comments:
My kids cross there. Thanks for letting me know they are protected from idiots

HEllo! this is a SCHOOL zone, and kid was killed in a LJ school zone this year. HOWEVER, I do think that LJ shoots themselves in the foot by posting school zone hours for 30 minutes AFTER SCHOOLS HAVE STARTED. One snippy parent argued to me "it's for latecomers" . but in 35 years I've never seen a 'latecomer' walking to school. Also .. .how about summers???? Those kids are running everywhere. . sheesh. . Should we put 20 mph speeds throughout the city? where do you draw a line? I think that the excessive time on school zones tends to dull reactions to them. . and makes people resentful and wanting to break the law. NO I don't I'm careful. but I've been grabbed OUTSIDE a school zone (while approaching) a HIGH school at 1:30 in the afternoon for doing 24 mph. clear open view. . not a SOUL around except that cop . I was approaching and slowed down to 20 way before the school .but the cop informed me that the zone begins at Dixie drive .. quite a distance away and LONG before the posted sign.
