Yorktown Rd & I- 64

Newport News, VirginiaJul 02, 20092 Comments

On Yorktown road as it passes by Lee Hall Plantation, just as people are turning off I-64, going toward Rte 60. Police hide on the left in trees or in entrance to the apartment complex on right, just after you pass the Plantation. Speed limit is 25mph and locals observe it scrupulously along this well known speed trap.

Comments:
Reason for the decreased speed limit is due to the deer and fawns that cross over to the fields to eat at sundown. They can cause a lot of damage to automobiles and injury.

If it's for deer only then why isn't it just set to 25 at sundown/sunrise and 35-45 (like the surrounding roads) the rest of time? And yes, they like to sit all over Yorktown Road (the side Lee Hall Plantation is on anyways), so make sure you're not doing anymore than 30 and even that is probably pushing it. And they basically encourage people to speed on one section of this road and it's 2 lanes (1 each direction) and has a broken yellow line on part of it and thus people can pass and they have to speed up to do so, which means instant ticket if a cop is waiting. Sounds like a scam to me.
