Motorists heading south on Zion Road, as they enter the straightway just past the intersection with Riggs Road, are at grave risk, especially during morning rush hour. The police park in the hidden entrance to Blue Mash Nature Trail, and take advantage of the natural tendency to speed up and/or pass slow vehicles on this first straight part of Zion, which prior to the straightway winds south from Sunset Road. Passing is allowed here (broken center line), but attempt it only with extreme caution — you will be pulled over if the police are present (they are there once every few weeks, or in spurts of several days). Do not exceed approximately 45 mph (speed limit is 40).
