South of Mobley’s Cut on Leiper’s Creek Road

Boston, TennesseeSep 28, 20100 Comments

Williamson County will sit on the right (southbound shoulder) just past Mobley’s Cut, where 840 will cross. Was stopped for 60 in a 50 by a very young (early 20’s) deputy in a Dodge Charger with a "Yeah, it’s a Hemi" sticker in the rear window. I’m 48, clean cut, retired military, was driving a rusty Mustang. At first I thought I was going to get a citation for 60/50 which was fine, since I was guilty of that. However, as the deputy started asking questions, he decided that I was lying to him and concealing something in the car that was illegal ( I wasn’t) I had a sealed bottle of wine in the back that I had purchased 20 minutes before the stop in Brentwood, he examined that and gave it back. He then stated that my eyes indicated that I had been using illegal painkiller (I never have). He asked me to step from the car, and then stated that he hope my "integrity" would kick in and I would get honest with him about what I was hiding in the car. Again, since I was hiding nothing, I offered to let him search the car. He had me lean up against the car, and searched me personally. Again, he stated that he wanted me to get "honest" with him, and I again offered to let him search the car. Though it was getting difficult, I remained calm and respectful throughout this incident. After hearing something on his radio that I didn’t understand, he abruptly told me that I was free to go. A scary incident, believe me, I’ll go 5 under on this road from now on.
