I-40 eastbound from Cookeville to Monterey Starting at mile marker 292 to mile marker 297 is a steep climb for 18 wheelers, some have to go down to lowest gear to get up the mountain. the restriction in this area is no 18 wheelers in the passing lane as they tie up traffic and the police will issue tickets

I-40 eastbound leaving Cookeville Tn. at mile marker 292 you start a 5 % grade climb on a winding highway up thru mm 297 there is a lane restriction for truckers to stay in the right lane. the posted speed is 65 mph but some truckers are trying to pass slower truckers and tieing up the passing lane for the 4 wheelers. The highway patrol will ticket if caught in the monfort lane in this stretch.
