Hacks Cross Road near Poplar Pike Avenue

On Hacks Cross between Poplar Pike and south to the Germantown city limits. Squad cars park on one of three side streets and get you–usually southbound. The speed limit is 35 but feels like it should be 45.

Poplar Avenue near Oak Hill Road

Poplar Ave. (US Hwy 72) westbound here widens to three lanes which during light traffic periods makes going the posted 40 MPH feel like a crawl. As you approach you come down a long hill and, if it’s green, go through the light at Poplar Estates, so you are very likely doing well over that 40 MPH by now and probably don’t realize it (like me). Oak Hill is next on the right, and there he sits back a bit in a patrol car shooting through the shrubs. And going back on Poplar the other way, about a half-mile east at Miller Farms, every local knows about that spot. A patrol car (white) regularly sits tucked just off on the side street right at the bottom of a long hill, with a row of shrubs giving cover during the day and pitch black from the trees at night. In fact, anywhere along Poplar (or Germantown Road) where there are residential side streets or a church parking lot to hide in is a potential trap.

PS: There is no "show up in court", "pay court costs only" or "defensive driving school" option in Germantown to keep the ticket off your record as in Memphis or some of the other suburbs. I called the court and asked.

Germantown Road by the 1st Pres Church

They lov to sit in the parking lot and as the road sign changes in the town limits there they are waiting to pull the motorist up. I heard a police officer say this stretch of road leading to the germantown offset is their biggest money maker.

Germantown Parkway between Neshoba and Humpreys Blvd

The Germantown cops love to sit in the grass just in front of the large apartment complex and try to catch speeders. If you are heading North on GTown away from Neshoba cross street, he will be hiding on your right in a little cubby hole in the trees before you get to the apartments on your right. Germantown in general is a good place to get a ticket, but I have seen cops sit in this spot for the last 10 years or so.
