Old Jonesborough Road between Johnson City and Jonesborough

Johnson City, TennesseeFeb 08, 20120 Comments

Going out W. Walnut street the speed limit is 30 mph all the way to Jonesborough on the old Road. Police sit at several places on this route and are constantly present. I’ve been told by some people that they have been ticketed there for going less than 5 mph over.

Bristol Highway coming over the Boone Lake bridge.

There is a fire department just after this bridge if you are coming from Piney Flats which has an electrical box with a little gravel hill. Cops sit here A LOT. I was pulled over back in June 2010 for 66/45. He even admitted to clocking well before coming over the bridge where the limit is 55 but still wrote me for the 45 zone. Watch out here, they also like to sit in the median right after and before the bridge.

King Springs Road

The police sit in the parking lots of apartments and churches all along King Springs Road, especially near the Legion Street 4 way stop. They pull you over for going 6 miles over the 30mph limit.

Milligan Highway

Johnson City, TennesseeAug 06, 20110 Comments

The speed limit used to be 45mph on half of the Milligan Highway leaving Elizabethton going toward Johnson City, changing to 35mph and then 30mph on the Johnson City end. They have changed the speed limit to 35mph until you pass Carter County Bank, where it is then 30mph. I admit it is a busy road, but 35mph the entire route is a long, slow drive. I was pulled over going 45 because I didn’t know the speed limit had changed at the time. I travel this road almost every day and see a police car every single time.

Past Food Lion on Main Street

As you pass Food Lion on Main Street, the Police sit all up and down the hill that leads into Carter County. The speed limit is 30mph…..a car won’t get out of 1st gear going up the hill, then as you start down the hill, you must ride the brakes most of the way. As soon as you hit the Carter County line, the speed limit changes to 45mph. There have been complaints for years regarding this stretch of road being too slow. They make a lot of money on tickets here. My sister-in-law got a ticket going 36mph.
