Jonesborough, Tennessee Speed Traps
under bridge on state Hwy 81
The speed limit is 30 miles downhill, you would almost have to use brakes to meet this limit.
Highway 11E
Just east of Boonescreek Road on 11E there is now a photo speed camera in use. Beware the whole area is full of red light cameras also. They just mail you the ticket.
E/W Jackson Boulevard near Boones Creek Road
The whole town is a speed trap. The cops there have nothing to do because there are more officers than needed on duty. It’s a sleepy little town with very little crime, so the cops have ample time to make use of their radar unts. Also a word to the wise-make sure that you drive a late-model car thru town because many of their weaker officers like to profile and pull over older cars as probable cause for drug searches.
Old Embreeville/Cherokee Road near Old Stage Road
Police park near the barns and silos just off the road near the farm house on the N side of the road. Hard to see from both ways…just slow down through there.
State Highway 11 East near US Highway 321
This is a four lane highway with a turn lane through a congested part of town. The city police usually sit in the parking of the funeral home on the right if you’re entering town from the west. This is on a curve and they can see you before you get a chance to see them well. The entire city limits is patrolled heavily at all times. The posted limit is 45 and I’ve had friends get pulled and ticketed for 47 mph.
