Knoxville, Tennessee Speed Traps

Knoxville city cops like to run radar from anywhere downtown to the city limit to the south. They hide on side streets out of sight with "instant on" radar. Also a bad road to drive on. People drive badly on it.

There is usually at least one sometimes two Police cars sitting on the on-ramp (where Southbound James White traffic can’t see them) where the police station is – waiting for someone. This is the exit just before the bridge that crosses the river. I see them everyday either pulling someone over or waiting to ticket – usually stop on or just passed the bridge. Best idea is to actually go 45 or at least no more than 50. You can’t see them until it’s too late and it’s on a downslope hill too. Hope this helps someone not get screwed.

Anywhere between the easttown exit and the 40/640 merge usually going east right before you go under the bridge they always pull you over right at the bridge

They sit halfway down the hill as you’re going as you’re going away from town on Western. They will hit you and not pull you over until you pass them and go about 1/2 mile. The speed limit on that section of Western is 35, but is the least busy at all times of the day. The limit should be raised to 40-45.
