Lenoir, Tennessee Speed Traps
Beals Chapel Road near Walls of Alvaro
This is a quiet country road with minimal traffic, but because the police are frequently called out on noise complaints by cranky neighborhood residents, it is heavily policed. When you round the sharp curve leaving town near the lake you are likely to find a patrol car investigating some previous call, and they use radar extensively in this area.
US Highway 11 West near K Street
This route is also known as W Broadway. Officers will park along the side of the road hidden in with other cars and get you if you are doing 40mph in a 30mph zone. They will also hide in side streets or alley ways. This is an all day thing enforced by the Mayor and Police Chief.
US Highway 321 near US Highway 70
Going North on Highway 321,which is a four lane divided highway, the speed limit is 40 mph in a fairly congested area which is reasonable. After you leave the congested area toward the junction of Highway 70 the area is not congested. The police position themselves 200-300 yards outside the congested area where the speed limit is still 40 mph. I was ticked in this area at midnight at 55 mph, really going 52 mph. The volume of traffic at this late hour is roughly one car passing through every 30-60 seconds.
