Mcewen, Tennessee Speed Traps
McEwen, Tennessee
Speed limit drops suddenly from 55 mph to 30 mph. The other end of town is also 30 mph for a long stretch before jumping back to 55 mph. Also, I was even stopped for crossing the white line on the RIGHT side. (I was passing to the right of a stalled vehicle in the middle of the road.) Illegal – didn’t know that either.
Be careful in the town of McEwen!
State Highway 70 Main Street
The speed limit drops to 30 from 55 at the city limits, and on one side just as you crest a hill. The local LEOs have a long-standing reputation for being VERY strict about the 30 mph limit and there are a number of places for them to hide and lie in wait. Be careful when passing through town there.
US Highway 70
Small town on Hwy 70 just east of Waverly. Speed limit is 30MPH through the entire town. Strictly enforced at all hours, especially bad late at night when little traffic can make one tend to drive faster. Good news is, town is so small it doesn’t even have a traffic light so you are through it in like 5 miles AND normally only one cop is patroling so once you pass him, you can drive normally again.
