Sam Cooper Boulevard

Memphis, TennesseeSep 02, 20120 Comments

The speed limit on the west end of Sam Cooper is 40 mph, which is quite deceiving because it seems like a highway. A favorite place for the Memphis Police Department to sit and use radar. Even though all the cars around me were going faster than I was, I was pulled right out of the pack and ticketed. My ticket was reduced from 14 miles over to 5 miles over, and I was informed if I paid the ticket, it would not go on my driver’s license record. What a way to shake down motorists.

South end of Riverside Drive at Georgia and Carolina

Memphis, TennesseeAug 20, 20120 Comments

Police sit along Carolina or Georgia Avenues and tickets cars going North on I-55 and exiting onto Riverside Drive. The speed drops from 60 to 40 and the police in mass are one block North on Riverside. They operate here several times per week. I was ticked for 47 in a 40 zone.

Raines Rd from hickory Hill to Kirby

Memphis, TennesseeMay 11, 20100 Comments

The speed limit is 40 but a 25 mph School Zone is in effect from Crump Rd to Kirby.
They often set up just west of Kirby but also just sit in the middle turn lane to catch unsuspecting motorists who have no idea they are in a School Zone
