One unmarked "non police" vehicle sits in a driveway adjacent to the high school with a radar gun, and the chase cars are diapatched out of the Wildcat den parking lot. On the day I got my citation, it was 11:00 pm. I went to court and learned that 110 citations were given that shiFort The turnpike is 35 mph almost the entire length.
Really scummy for a city of 25K population.
State Highway 95 near West End Turnpike
The cycle cops are now hiding behind the old west end historic Manhatten Project security gate building near where the Oak Ridge Turnpike (State Hwy 95) narrows down to a 2 lane from a 4 lane. Workers at the plant sites should especially beware as should the casual driver passing through town.
State Highway 62 near U.T. Arboretum
Oak Ridge city police like to park their motorcycles and cruisers in the driveway of the Arboretum behind bushes and signs while gunning traffic going into Oak Ridge. This location has recently caused a big court case that could result in serious repercussions agains the city for not following state law when they established the speed limit for the stretch of road. Enforcement has gone from heavy to moderate, but be careful!
