Smyrna, Tennessee Speed Traps
Chicken Pike Road near State Highway 102
Cops like to catch Nissan employees running late to work. Wide open road with good visibility has 30 mph limit. Cop sits behind fence and hedge just before curve. The whole town of Smyrna is really a speed trap, but this one is a little more sneaky.
Nissan Drive near Smyrna High School
Police cruiser sits parked in front of Smyrna High School. Posted speed limit changes from 55 to 45 about a half mile before high school. Cop is hard to see until it is too late if you’re heading eastbound up the hill. Smyrna speed limits are enforced, but the cops aren’t unreasonable. I travel this stretch of road frequently and have never been pulled over for going 50.
State Route 41- 70 near city limit to city limit
The speed limit changes from 55 to 45 to 40 the further you get into the city. the cops here do not play around and will write you a ticket in a second. I heard that they now even have a group of officers thats only responsibility is to write speeders tickets so beware.
Sam Ridley Parkway near Overpass
A cruiser can sometimes be spotted hiding near the overpass on Sam Ridley Parkway. If you’re going towards I-24, it is in plain sight, yet if you’re going the opposite way, you can’t see the cop until it’s too late.
Murfreesboro Road near Sam Ridley Parkway
The Smyrna Police Department has started to camp out just north of the Sam Ridley Parkway overpass. They park in the median and shoot radar at people leaving La Vergne and coming into Smyrna.
