Tazewell, Tennessee Speed Traps

Going south on Hwy 33 from Harrogate to Tazewell through New Tazewell. Enforced by local City police as well as state troopers. Speed limit is 45 mph and drops to 40 within Tazewell. Hwy is 4 lane with no red lights from Harrogate to Tazewell and could easily support 65 MPH

There is a lot of construction on this road between Morristown and the Cumberland Gap. I was traveling northbound and was just south of Tazewell when I was ticketed for doing 61. I accelerated briefly (to avoid being rear-ended) in an area I perceived to be the end of a construction zone. The road opened to 4-lane and there were no signs of construction work, equipment, or workers (it was early Sunday evening, still light outside). The officer claimed that it was still a work zone and posted at 45 mph.
