Bovina, Texas Speed Traps
eastbound-driving from N.M. the first little town in Texas on rt. 60. running high legal speed, I take foot off accelerator to reduce speed from 65. I see the 45 mph sign but did not brake. They had radar set up just past the sign. This is a short slow down area,.much to their profit.
The officer will hide near a large elevator and run radar just as the speed zone changes to 45 immediately from 65. I’ve been through there many times and they hit both ends of this little town hiding behind the elevators. You will be immediately asked to search your vehicle for no reason. They will write you a citation for anything over the speed limit. Beware!
It will be one or two officers on the east or west edges of town varies from day to day. Sometimes two officers will be working at the same time.
Cop sits in patrol unit with his radar aimed directly at the 70/65 mph speedzone signs then immediatly pulls you over when you come upon the 45 mph sign. The position he usually sits at is reading the freight trains as this is a transistion to higher speed for them. No warning of the lower speed zone is posted. heavy truck traffic through this area at certain hours.
