I-35N Service Road, between Sandy Lake and George Bush Turnpike

Carrollton, TexasJun 03, 20030 Comments

As you travel north on the Service Road to I-35 between Sandy Lake Road and George Bush Turnpike, a patrol officer can be found hiding behind a tree in the parking lot to a vacant lot just before you get to a group of warehouses. They can be very well hidden and have spotted them far enough in advance that I haven’t gotten pulled over.

Plano Parkway NW of Midway/Park

The stretch of Plano Parkway going from Midway out towards 121 as you’re heading towards Austin Ranch/Lewisville is heavily enforced by Carrollton PD. Be especially careful going down the steep hill in front of the new school. You’ll have to ride the brakes hard to avoid getting a ticket if they’re out that day. I’m all for enforcing school zone speed limits but this seems fishy to me. The school zone lights are flashing even though it’s outside the hours posted on the sign and also on weekends and during the holidays when school is not even in session. One person I know was ticketed at 9:10 for violating the school zone which expired at 9:00. The officer claimed the current time was earlier than 9:00 which was not true.

Hwy 121 (new section) between I-35 & Old Denton Rd.

Carrollton, TexasFeb 18, 20030 Comments

Mainly on weekends, but possible at any time, this newest 3 mile section of 6 lane divided hwy 121 has recently (Feb 2003) had the speed limits reduced from 65, to 55, and the CPD is taking full advantage of making money off of drivers who are still used to driving 65 mph. Other than the light controlled intersection of Hebron Rd., there is almost no merge or intersection traffic, and no reason for the speed limits to be reduced.

I-35 Southbound before exiting to I-635 East

Squad car sits facing south bound traffic on shoulder. Waits for you to pop over hill before you come to the exit.

Midway Rd. between Beltline and Trinity Mills Rd.

Carrollton, TexasSep 25, 20020 Comments

These cops recently has majorly increased their partoling this stretch of road. It’s high volume traffic during lunchtime (sometimes in the morning too) and there are several places they can hide at a distance, but by the time you see them, it’s too late. Usually they hide behind bushes or sides of buildings, especially along Addison Airport. Sometimes they are on motorcycles, but use Cop cars as well. So be careful!
