Rock Prairie Street near Welsh Street

College Station, TexasApr 08, 20081 Comments

In the morning school drop off hours, daily there is at least one officer on motorcycle, around Rock Prairie Elementary and College Station Middle School. Officers typically use radar while patrolling on motorcycle (in motion), or will be parked along Rock Prairie. They can be in the short section of Edelwiese along the back section of the elementary, on Welsh avenue along the front of the school, or anywhere along Rock Prairie road in front of the elementary and middle school. Anyone who lives around here knows that traffic stops are common around this area, and almost a given during the school zone hours.

There is a school bus that stops on Texas Avenue between Walmart and PM Lube every afternoon and there is always a motorcycle officer parked behind PM Lube watching for cars that don’t stop on both sides of the Hwy. This is a very large fine.

Basically anywhere on Harvey from highway 6 to George Bush you will see 1 or more cops on motorcycles using radars. I got a ticket for going 10 miles over and the ticket was over $300.

A&M Consolidated Highschool school zone. College Station motorcycle cops will park their bikes behind parked cars or bushes in a parking lot and catch cars coming from SW PKWY. There is no flashing sign so they do it mid-day the big problem is they clock cars that aren’t inside the school zone. I got a ticket here recently and the cop started his bike, turned his lights on and pulled to the edge of the driveway before I even got to the school zone sign.

City cop (car) on the right-hand side of the road, just past the vet school as you’re driving towards the airport and away from Wellborn Road.
